The return of the legendary Shaft definitely turns the saga into a good representation of the state of the industry over the decades.
While 'The Red Nights of Harlem' (Gordon Parks, 1971), 'Shaft Goes Back to Harlem' (Gordon Parks, 1972) and 'Shaft in Africa' (John Guillermin, 1973) are a good example of how the roughness of the seventies knew embrace the blaxploitation, 'Shaft: The Return' (John Singleton, 2000) serves as a beacon of that terrible decade for action, the one that occurred between the mid-nineties and the late 2000s.
The trailer of this new 'Shaft', reboot and sequel at the same time of all the previous ones, reminds us of the moment in which we live, a time in which the action rolls back with care but must be full of comedy and self-referential winks , that is not the mainstream as not to offer an escape route to those who decide to get away from reality for a while in a movie theater.
'Shaft', directed by Tim Story ('The Barber Shop', 'Go Patrol') and scripted by Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow, features Samuel L. Jackson as John Shaft II, nephew of the original John Shaft, fortunately embodied by Richard Roundtree, and father of John Shaft Jr., to which Jessie T. Usher gives life.
